Galen R. Waltz, a native of Harrisburg and a Central Dauphin High School graduate, earned his Bachelor of Science degree with a major in English and a minor in Speech from Shippensburg State College in 1966.  In 1971, he received his Master of Education degree in English from Shippensburg State College.  He attended the University of Dayton School of Law, Ohio, and graduated with Juris Doctor degree in 1983.  In 1983, he was admitted to practice before the United States Federal District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.  In 1998, he studied at the National Judicial College located at Reno, Nevada. 

As an educator, Galen taught English and Speech at Central Dauphin High School from 1966 to 1980.  During his tenure, he coached forensics, debate and tennis.  He was inducted into the Central Dauphin High School Sports Hall of Fame in 1998. 

After graduating from law school, Galen became an associate for 4 years in a Harrisburg/Hershey law office.  From 1987 to 1994, he served as a prosecutor at the Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs, Department of State, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  He represented the Real Estate Commission, Medical Board, Dental Board, and Osteopathic Board.  He also defended the Real Estate Recovery Fund while performing as a prosecutor.  In 1993, he became a Hearing Examiner and for 2.5 years served as the Acting Chief Hearing Examiner at the Insurance Department. 

He is a member of both the Cumberland County Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association.

 While serving as a prosecutor and hearing examiner, he developed, organized and presented seminars to Commonwealth investigators, attorneys, professional licensees, department staff and college students.  Galen has also presented seminars for the PBI and various licensed professional businesses.

Galen practices primarily in the areas of Family, Insurance, Estates, Real Estate and Pennsylvania Administrative Law.

Galen resides in Marysville, Perry County, Pennsylvania, with his wife Brenda, who is employed by the Commonwealth of PA.
