The Noble Mansion

The Noble Mansion, located at 28 South Pitt Street, in the Historic Downtown Carlisle District was built around 1800 by James Noble.  Mr. Noble acquired the lot, one of the original lots laid out in Carlisle by the Penn family, in the late 1700's.  When the home was built of native limestone, it was one of the largest and most prestigious in Carlisle at that time.  The two foot thick stone walls housed large spacious living areas as well as a carriage house, cellar smokehouse, and a third floor servant quarters.  The home remained in the Noble family for the next 150 years until passing to George Ritter, a nephew of the last surviving Noble.

In the 1950's and 1960's the first floor of the home was used at various times as Doctor offices, retail shops, and professional offices.  The Ritter family retained the home until 1977 when it was purchased by John Fowler and William Addams, two prominent Carlisle attorneys, who converted the home to use as law offices.

In the year 2000 the home was purchased by Ron Turo to house the expanded Turo Law Offices.
